Fun and Games: A Text on Game Theory Ιουνίου 1, 2008
D.C. Heath | 1991-10 | ISBN: 0669246034 | 671 pages | Djvu | 7,5 MB
Binmore’s groundbreaking text on game theory explores the manner in which rational people should interact when they have conflicting interests. While Binmore uses a light touch to outline key developments in theory, the text remains a serious exposition of a serious topic. In addition, his unique story-telling approach allows students to immediately apply game-theoretic skills to simple problems. Each chapter ends with a host of challenging exercises to help students practice the skills they have learned. The highly anticipated revision, expected in 2003, will include more coverage of cooperative game theory and a more accessible presentation—with chapters broken up into smaller chunks and an abundance of economic examples integrated throughout the text.

Lectures on Macroeconomics των Blanchard και Fischer Μαΐου 25, 2008
Olivier Jean Blanchard, Stanley Fischer “Lectures on Macroeconomics”
The MIT Press | 1989-03-21 | ISBN: 0262022834 | 664 pages | PDF | 23,8 Mb
Lectures on Macroeconomics provides the first comprehensive description and evaluation of macroeconomic theory in many years. While the authors’ perspective is broad, they clearly state their assessment of what is important and what is not as they present the essence of macroeconomic theory today.
The main purpose of Lectures on Macroeconomics is to characterize and explain fluctuations in output, unemployment and movement in prices. The most important fact of modern economic history is persistent long term growth, but as the book makes clear, this growth is far from steady. The authors analyze and explore these fluctuations.
Topics include consumption and investment; the Overlapping Generations Model; money; multiple equilibria, bubbles, and stability; the role of nominal rigidities; competitive equilibrium business cycles, nominal rigidities and economic fluctuations, goods, labor and credit markets; and monetary and fiscal policy issues. Each of chapters 2 through 9 discusses models appropriate to the topic. Chapter 10 then draws on the previous chapters, asks which models are the workhorses of macroeconomics, and sets the models out in convenient form. A concluding chapter analyzes the goals of economic policy, monetary policy, fiscal policy, and dynamic inconsistency.
Written as a text for graduate students with some background in macroeconomics, statistics, and econometrics, Lectures on Macroeconomics also presents topics in a self contained way that makes it a suitable reference for professional economists.

Game Theory: A Very Short Introduction Μαΐου 25, 2008
Ken Binmore “Game Theory: A Very Short Introduction ”
Oxford University Press, USA | 2007-11-02 | ISBN: 0199218463 | 144 pages | PDF | 1,6 Mb
Games are everywhere: Drivers manoeuvring in heavy traffic are playing a driving game. Bargain hunters bidding on eBay are playing an auctioning game. A firm negotiating next year’s wage is playing a bargaining game. When opposing candidates in an election are playing a political game. The supermarket’s price for corn flakes is decided by playing an economic game. Game theory is about how to play such games in a rational way. Even when the players have not thought everything out in advance, game theory often works for the same reason that mindless animals sometimes end up behaving very cleverly: evolutionary forces eliminate irrational play because it is unfit. Game theory has seen spectacular successes in evolutionary biology and economics, and is beginning to revolutionize other disciplines from psychology to political science. This iVery Short Introduction/i introduces the fascinating world of game theory, showing how it can be understood without mathematical equations, and revealing that everything from how to play poker optimally to the sex ratio among bees can be understood by anyone willing to think seriously about the problem.
